poly hair

I'm working on Galatea hair for a few days now. I can't get it right. It looks aweful. The main design is very intelligent, but it's not easy to turn that into 3d.

I'm trying zBrush to see if I can create bump maps, but I can't believe this is so confusing to transfer files and maps between zBrush and Maya!! The only time I could do that was more like an accident.

David said it looks like a huge turd on her head! lol

Some models

Here, some of -almost- finished character models. These are not textured yet. The colors, materials and lighting are only for test renders...

Galatea without hair! She's going to have stone material, this one is just a test.

Pygmalion basic model.

One of the humans bust on the workshop. He's called Adam. I know about his awkward ear, and will fix it asap. All feedbacks about these models are welcome.

Designs

I got Ramin Rahimi, my classmate from Boys Conceptual Arts School, to do some concept and character design for the project. I'm very happy with the character's final design. Though Ramin is very careless when it comes to team works, he easily forget the deadlines. And it takes so much effort to make him do his overdue job!

I started modeling in a short time after designing stage. There is one sculpting workshop to model plus tones of props, and two characters of course.
take a look...

Galatea first model test... I didn't like this at al.. Looks like a half alien creature!

The Story...

The story is a romantic tragedy extract from one of Ovid's most famous mythologies, "Pygmalion and Galatea". The mythology is about a young sculptor who carved a very beautiful woman out of ivory, and later falls in love with it. Later Venus feels sorry for him and gives life to the statue. They marry and have a son.

My story is almost the same with a tweak at the end. (of course I'm not exposing the story here!)

The animatics are done, and I'm in modeling stage now.

- "animatics" is a low-resolution and low-quality version of an animation film which is done in pre-production stage. The purpose is understanding timing of shots and using it as a resource in the actual production. My short is going to be around 2 minutes based on the animatics. (ya I know, looks very short, but the amount of work is crazy)

Goodbye Lover!

this is the absolute firs time I'm writing a blog. Actually I'm not sure if I keep posting, but I prefer to give it a try.

anyway, I just want to post my everyday work here.
I'm working on a short film which is due in 3 months (around september). The name -for now - is "Goodbye Lover". But it's not finalized yet, and I will change it as soon as I have a less cliche name.
